Elise's passion to lead a healthy and active lifestyle led her to pursue a career as a Registered Kinesiologist. Knowledge of human movement, chronic disease, and aging allows her to improve the fitness and the quality of life of clients. Through her therapeutic movement practice, Elise works with clients one on one to help reach their health and fitness goals, while rehabilitating injury and discomforts. Elise also specializes in working with clients who are receiving treatment for or are recovering from cancer. As a certified Nordic pole walking instructor Elise utilizes pole walking as a tool to improve a client’s overall well-being.
Elise first obtained her Bachelor of Science in kinesiology from the University of Waterloo and more recently completed a Master’s of Health Science degree from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. The focus of her research was on how Nordic pole walking impacts the physical function and quality of life of individuals with cancer.
Personally, Elise shares a common philosophy with the Thrive team of always putting the best interest of the client first. In strongly believing that client education is the key to empowering clients, Elise helps them to establish and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Elise enjoys all aspects of kinesiology and has developed a strong rapport with many clients over the years. Born and raised in York Region, Elise is excited to provide services to the Thrive community.
Elise enjoys family life with her husband Matt and twin daughters Hannah and Lauryn. While growing up Elise was a competitive figure skater and she now coaches part time. When not practicing kinesiology Elise spends her time gardening, golfing, waterskiing, and knitting.
